About Us

Practice Profile

Castle Gate Medical Practice (formerly Chippenham Surgery) has been providing medical care to local patients since approximately 1840. Since then we have grown to provide care for a list size currently standing at approximately 14,200 patients - and increasing. We have 2 sites, Monmouth and Raglan.
We have 9 GPs at our Practice. We encourage our healthcare professionals to develop their own development plans, allowing individuals time to teach and study.
In addition to primary care general medical services, the Practice also runs additional voluntary services such as chronic long-term illness clinics (e.g. asthma, BP, COPD, heart disease, family planning, sexual health etc.).
The Practice has a contract with Aneurin Bevan University Health Board to provide primary care general medical services under the NHS.
We are a Training Practice

GP Registrars
We usually have one or two GP Speciality Registrars with us at any one time who are fully qualified doctors undergoing specialist postgraduate training in General Practice.

Zero Tolerance

The NHS operate a zero tolerance policy with regard to violence and abuse and the practice has the right to remove violent or abusive patients from the list with immediate effect in order to safeguard practice staff and patients.

Violence in this context includes actual or threatened physical violence or verbal abuse which leads to fear for a person’s safety. In this situation we will notify the patient in writing of their removal from the list and record in the patient’s medical records the fact of the removal and the circumstances leading to it.
